Brain Breaker is a side-scrolling action-adventure platform game released for the Sharp X1 in 1985. It is considered an early example of the Metroidvania genre.
The game is relatively short, and so its difficulty arises from providing few hints to the player. Some items you can pick up, or some objects you can interact with, are useless or traps. Some obstacles require creative use of your items, some of which can be permanently detrimental.
Story and hints are provided through text scrolling at the bottom of the screen, so this translation should make it clearer what’s going on with the story in this game, as well as what things you can try with nearby objects.
