U.N. Squadron is an action shoot ‘em up game for the Super Nintendo. Based on the titular manga, Area 88.

This is a 100% European Portuguese translation patch for U.N. Squadron.

This project aims to be the most comprehensive, non-English fan translation of the game. It is, first and foremost, a retranslation of Area 88; as such, all text is based on the original Japanese release rather than the US version.

All mission briefings, demo, menu options, McCoy’s shop, game over screen, credits, endings, end level score counter, and victory messages are translated and make use of adequately accented characters. It is also the first fan translation to address the special endgame messages received when playing Hard and Gamer modes and to describe Mickey Scymon’s ability properly. It features a redesigned title screen logo that localizes the original name to fully complement the retranslation effort.

Additionally, this patch includes a secondary, optional patch that features 1) increased money rewards so that mid-tier planes can be accessed earlier, and 2) added pilot ratings on the pilot selection screen, showcasing weapon growth and damage recovery rates. This optional patch is NOT standalone and MUST be applied after the provided PT-PT translation patch.

Finally, the translation patch revealed no compatibility issues with Vitor Vilela’s FastROM hack for the game.

Lunar IPS is required to patch the game.
