Game Description:
Sonic 3D Blast, an isometric platformer, is the last game for the Sega Genesis. The game was later ported to the Sega Saturn in case Sega’s Sonic X-treme was canceled… it was! Both version are essentially the same thing with minor tweaks and improvements. The game is considered the black sheep in the sonic series… well *was* once Sonic ‘06 came along.
The story is simple… Dr. Robotnik discovers and captures birds called Flickies that can travel to alternate dimensions through rings. Therefore, he tries to use the Flickies for his own evil bidding to find the chaos emeralds by putting them into robots. The player assumes the role of Sonic to destroy the robots in order to progress and stop Dr. Robotnik.
The gameplay is a collect-a-thon. Sonic must destroy enemy robots to obtain Flickies. Once five Flickies are obtained, Sonic can go through a ring warp that warps him to either another part of the stage or to a boss.
The graphics are pre-rendered and are something to marvel at. Clearly one of the most graphically impressive games for the system. The music is fine as well.
