Game Description:
Gumshoe is zapper game for the NES. It is about a detective named Stevenson whose daughter has been kidnapped by the mob boss, King Dom. He is holding her for ransom in exchange for five black panther diamonds.
The graphics are colorful and fairly decent for the NES. It has a nice variety of enemies ranging from giant killer armadillos to sharks and flying bottles.
Stevenson moves through the board by himself looking for five diamonds. You shoot him to make him float over obstacle and enemies. You also can shoot the enemies to prevent them from killing Stevenson. You can collect balloons for more ammo and shoot the red birds for power-ups that allow you to take a hit from enemies without dying.
The music is catchy and fun to listen to but the sound effects are average.
It’s different to say the least and may not suit everyone, but I enjoyed this game back when I was a kid blasting at the TV frantically with my light gun.
