The Definitive Mega Man World V Experience
Reviewed By: Swansong on 25 Dec 2022I just replayed the whole game through with this patch, and let me tell you, it was a delightful experience. It was practically Mega Man 5.5 (I feel like this game is a better sendoff to the 8-bit era than Mega Man 6 anyways). The coloring was fantastic all throughout, and though some more monochrome sprites occasionally appear, the overall experience is absolutely incredible and brings life to this game.
I would like to mention a glitch I encountered though: on the final boss, if you land the final blow four layers deep, black boxes will appear on both sides of the text boxes during the subsequent conversation. I did also notice occasional flickering on certain sprites that wasn’t present in the original game, and the water streams that appear when breaking pipes are no longer transparent, leaving Mega Man obscured as long as he is in the water (this is no big deal though, as it is only one level).
Overall, an absolutely fantastic patch that makes the game run so much smoother (lag was prevalent in the vanilla game) and visually in line with the mainline series. Makes a worthwhile game even easier to pitch to fans of the series.
