Description:

This is a Japanese version of Rockman 2 hack, you need to import the IPS patch into the original Rockman 2, not Mega Man 2! This hack modifies the following:

Fix your hack please

First off, Bubble Mans boss gate doesn’t work, please play test your hacks from start to finish instead of using save states to pass through it once and say “Welp, it’s possible, let’s move on”, because when you use save states to play test, you miss stuff like, let’s say, a Ladder Transition in Flash Mans stage in another hack from the group MagnetFirstBro belongs to, Philosophy of Firework Master.

There’s a lot of neat traps in YJ that enemy placement set you up so you’re going to get hit by something you had no idea you were going to get hit by and if you don’t get hit by that, you’re gonna get hit by this thing all the way across the stage. IF that doesn’t make sense, it will after you play this hack. Sniper Joes have hitboxes that extend across the entire stage and they are in places to hit you. All of the enemies here are there for cheap hits and to kill you in cheap ways. Bosses are either too easy or Wood Man, but yeah, whole game is just enemy spam and cheap deaths. Drills everywhere, slowdown and bad level design. There’s good ideas, as I said, neat death traps, good idea death traps.

The graphics are worse than every mega man 2 chiko hack, it’s hard to tell where to stand even compared to chiko standards.

This hacker says they are the Chinese Chiko, and let me tell you, as Chiko’s biggest fan ever, this is not chiko. Chiko’s levels were hard because of relentless platforming with cheap design and respawning enemies that trap. This is hard because you force people to MASH FOR THEIR LIVES using Air Mans weapon in wily 4, for example.

This hack feels more like mega man maker than a rom hack, and there have been a few hacks recently that have felt like that, but this one is the biggest offender.

The best example of “kaizo” in his hack was the section with the telly’s and the chickens, where you are going to get hit a ton, but there is health literally everywhere so it doesn’t matter. That was good kaizo design for mega man. Pretty much 90% of the rest of the game isn’t.

I just got done beating Firework Master, that game was a mess, but I want to play that again because it’s fun. It’s twice as hard as YJ 1.1 and 5 times more fun.

If you play with save sates, you might like this, but if you are playing on an NES/Everdrive with an NES controller, so you have to use select to cycle through weapons instead of being able to map it to anything on your keyboard or USB controller, you will find that this is not a good hack.

Honestly, I’ve beaten every hack, I’ve ranked every hack, this hack is my vote for worst mega man 2 hack, and probably the 2nd worst hack out of 220 or so hacks for 1-6.
