Highly recommended, as it lets the players costumize options and difficulty at their best tastes (which also makes the previous hard hack of Golden Axe quite obsolete).

Furthermore, it is totally compatible with both Pyron and SCD colour hacks, so there is no point to ever play anymore Golden Axe Genesis without it.

I only wish the same would occur for Golden Axe II and III on the Genesis, even if these are quite mediocre compared to the original game (though the different colour hacks help them a lot to be way less crappy).

Additionally, the SFX change for the dragon attacks is a must have (I just hope this hack author will apply other SFX changes for all enemies voices as well in a potential future version 2 of this hack - I do have the females enemies beaten sound ported from the arcade version and converted to the SEGA Genesis, should you be interested in. It is unfortunately the only one I could get so far though.).

Many thanks to the author for this hack anyway, never play again Golden Axe Genesis port without it!
