Description:
“Tetris - Beginner” is exactly what it sounds like… Tetris for beginners! This is perfect for anyone who is perhaps showing their young kid Tetris for the first time. Or maybe for someone who just wants to relax!
Those two annoying zig-zag shapes (Z & S) that have been plaguing our Tetris games for years? GONE! To ensure that the loss of those two shapes did not make the actual gameplay less enjoyable, the frequency of the T shape has been increased. The frequency of the line shape has also been increased because, hey, this is Tetris for beginners! These changes make a perfect “easy mode” of Gameboy Tetris.
All game modes, even 2 player, have been tested.
This mod is for the more common 1.1 version of Gameboy Tetris.

This patch can also be used with thirtythree’s Cleaner Graphics mod and potentially other mods. (Use this patch first and then use the other patch.)
“Tetris - Beginner - Classic Hard Drop” is specifically for Ospin’s Classic Hard Drop mod. (Use this patch second, on the already patched Tetris - Classic Hard Drop.)
“Tetris - Beginner - Rosy Retrospection” is specifically for Ospin’s awesome mod. (Use this patch second, on the already patched Rosy Retrospection.)
-
Version 1.1 (There was a small compatibility issue with Ospin’s Classic Hard Drop mod. That has been fixed.)

Makes the game lose its point
Reviewed By: Ligeia on 04 Jul 2022Tetris may be the most famous puzzle game. What made its worldwide success is its perfect balance between accessibility and learning curve. Tetris more than proved itself as is. So changing this very well-oiled machine seems like a very bad idea to me.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for easy modes on platformers or basically every game, but isn’t the point of Tetris to be a brain teaser ? If you dumb down the game by removing the two “more complicated” pieces, what is actually left of the game ? Is mindlessly forming row after row, without any sort of challenge, supposed to be fun ?
It’s not even suitable for kids in my opinion. I mean, if you actually wanna stimulate a kid, let’s just give him the real deal and let him play the real Tetris. A kid is not supposed to be dumb, even if it seems hard at first he will eventually get it, and that’s what stimulating and learning are actually all about.
On a purely technical note, the game works fine, the hacking is well done. The new title screen looks good. But unfortunately, to me this is all seems wasted on a hack that makes the game devoid of any substance.
