Description:
This is a hack of Mega Man X that relocalizes the text restoring original Japanese meanings from Rockman X as close as possible with some flavor added in and a few of the US elements left intact. This relocalization has primarily taken elements from NectarHime’s retranslation script with elements of Hondoori Game Center’s and Her-Saki’s translations of Rockman X mixed in as well.
This patch comes in three variations, the “Maverick version”, the “Irregular version” and the “Rockman version”. The “Maverick version” keeps names and terminology consistent with the original localization while the “Irregular version” restores Japanese terminology and names, specifically “Irregular”, “Repliroid”, “VAVA”, etc.
As this is a relocalization there are some parts of this that aren’t entirely accurate to the Japanese version especially in cases where there wasn’t enough room with the text to keep it in a very satisfying manner.
Changes from v2.2
- Fixed some typos in the script.
- Restored relocalization only patches.
Changes from v2.1
- Changed the WARNING text in the opening to be in standard case, based on Her-Saki’s Rockman X Translation.

Well done.
Reviewed By: T29 on 12 Jun 2022This hack makes the first Mega Man game look like the PS1 port of X3.
The text is no longer odd.
Concerning the first review of this hack, I tested the game (used the v1.1_Maverick+Logo on a v1.1 ROM with Snes9x) and I didn’t lose the dash upgrade after the stage. It seems the user that wrote that review used an old emulator that can’t bypass the copy protection (you can find more info here: https://tcrf.net/Mega_Man_X#Copy_Protection).
