Description:
The flames of war wreak havoc upon your village. It’s up to you to inherit the Power of the Light Dragon, and put an end to the evil Emperor’s conquest. Yet a far more sinister force is lurking in the shadows… See yourself born as a legend in Breath of Fire: War of the Goddess.
(Note: This is a rewrite, not a retranslation. Please bear that in mind! This is under “Hacks” and not “Translations” for a reason.)
- Hold the Cancel Button (Default: B Button) to dash.
- Optional addenda: Double your XP and zenny rewards, and/or change the menu icons to use text.
- Majority of censorship removed. (Karn’s portrait has been modified to remove his oversized peach lips.)
- Greatly expanded script, featuring terms and story elements of later games.
- Unique character personalities based on the manga, Breath of Fire: Warrior of the Dragon.
- Ensured consistency with terms used in Breath of Fire II retranslated by Ryusui.
- Optional appendices to aid your journey. These are not required to play the game.

A new Light Dragon rises
Reviewed By: gnome_chomski on 20 May 2022This romhack breathes new life into a retro classic, and is very much worth your time whether you’re a first-timer or you’re an old hand returning for your dozenth playthrough.
The graphics restoration work and quality of life enhancements are great (especially the new menu labels and equipment icons), but this hack deserves a special salute for the writing. The original translation is serviceable, but pretty stilted. For their part, Vivify really went the extra mile in adding flavor and emotion to the script and character dialogue, while still staying true to the “Breath of Fire feel” of the BoF II re-translation and the later PSX games.
This is A+ work that’s fully compatible with the SNES Classic and every other retro-box I’ve tried it on.
