Description:
These patches are small convenience enhancements for Final Fantasy 5. They ensure that the “Sprint” (or “Dash”) and “Learning” abilities are always considered active, allowing you to devote your precious ability slots to other things.
Version 1.1 adds a few other oft-requested patches (and one not-so requested patch):
- Reverse Sprint button check (Sprint by default; hold B to walk)
- Always Find Pits
- Always Passages
- Always Map
Note that each is a separate IPS patch, so you can apply only the ones you are interested in.
These patches are quite tiny, and should be compatible with every SNES version of Final Fantasy 5 (Original Japanese, RPGe Translation, GBA Script Port, FF5Spoof), and are probably compatible with every other mod out there unless it’s a gigantic overhaul mod.

A must have.
Reviewed By: Eluq on 14 May 2022This is a must have. It fixes the two most annoying flaws of FFV, making the game truly perfect.
As a suggestion, the hack could be slightly improved by having the FindPasssages and FindPits passive abilities disabled until you actually obtain them from their corresponding job. It’s nice to not have to waste an ability slot on passive abilities, but it kinda feels like cheating if you can see hidden passages and pits before even obtaining the ability for it. It would be better if the game activated some flag permanently once you learn the ability, making you earn it as intended, but still not forcing you to actually equip it.
The sprint and learning abilities are fine as is, there’s nothing wrong with having them from the start.
