Description:
Super Mario Land DX is a romhack of the original Super Mario Land for the Game Boy that turns the game into a Game Boy Color game. It adds color and changes the graphics to give the game a modern look.
v2.0 (20/04/2022):
- Framerate issues have been addressed. That includes issues in the original game, especially noticeable in 3-2 (hard mode).
- Mario’s sprites have been revamped. They are mostly the same size as the originals.
- Mario’s relative position when jumping has been fixed. This was responsible for the weird collision issues in v1.0 (yeah, it wasn’t the sprites).
- Luigi has been added. He has slightly different physics.
- Old graphics are now an option. Not all graphics are unchanged, as it mostly affects the sprites, but this should be good enough for people who didn’t like the new ones.
- A shortcut to difficult mode has been added.
- New palette for Superball Mario/Luigi.
- New animation for Super Mario/Luigi when looking up.
- New animation for Super Mario/Luigi when entering a pipe.
- Options menu added to accommodate the new options.
- Battery added to permanently save your options, top score and level selection.
- Every single stage’s colors have been tweaked.
- An incompatibility screen for the original Game Boy has been added.
- Hundreds of minor (and not so minor) changes and fixes.

The only way to play Super Mario Land.
Reviewed By: peacefighter on 26 Apr 2022I played the first version of this ROM hack (1.0) a long time ago and enjoyed it, but the sprite for Mario was slightly too big. It looked impressive, but I preferred the original sprites and didn’t really care for this hack. I recently played through the newest version of this hack (2.0) and it is such a big improvement. I love that there are so many options. You can choose the original sprites or new sprites and both are in full color. You can choose to play as Mario or Luigi. You can even choose the difficulty. This is Amazing! My favorite sprite change in this update is Daisy. Daisy finally looks like Daisy. If you love Game Boy games this is a must own. My fingers are still crossed that this author continues and makes a Super Mario Land 3, Wario Land full color experience with all the care and attention to detail that they put into this game. I really love game. This makes the original game obsolete. This is a great ROM hack!
