Game Description:
Emerald Dragon is an RPG about a dragon who has raised a human child in the dragon world. After the child is grown and leaves for the human world all hell breaks loose and you too must follow. Your character IS a dragon but mostly stays in human form because the human world is not suitable for his kind.
The battles are random encounters but unlike many similar SNES games they have a top-down perspective and each character has so much “energy” that they can use per turn. This energy can be used for moving toward enemies, attacking, etc. It’s also one of the few SNES games to feature a good number of real voice samples for when the characters get hurt, cast spells, etc.
Translation Description:
This is a complete English translation for Emerald Dragon. Both IPS and xdelta format patches are included.
Nightcrawler has tested on real hardware to ensure it works. Be sure to check out the readme for some history on the translation.
The version 1.2 release fixed all reported issues to date (Oct 2014).

Possible Recommendation, That is if you Like Repetition
Reviewed By: Klaviaturist on 18 Feb 2011I should have reviewed this one a while back because this game looks like a typical RPG but turned out to be something else (sort of). At first glance this game looked similar to FF6 or Treasure of the Rudra but the battle system is much different and, in my opinion, nearly ruins the experience.
The storyline is similar to that of BoF. You are a young dragon that can change appearance to a human. You end up leaving the dragon world to save a girl in the human world and in the process get involved in a war to save the human world. This is sort of a loose interpretation of the story. Nothing really new.
The battle system I did not like. You are set up on a sort of chess board when the battle screen starts and the only character in your party you can control is the main character. You are somewhat limited to what you can do other than attack and using items. As the game progresses you earn the ability to change into several kinds of dragons. For me, I got near the end of the game and just stopped playing because the game becomes so tedious and the repetition doesn’t stop.
Translation, on the other hand, was really darn good. The characters were very animated and actually likable. The story, though it was really quite basic, was very well written and I wish I had finished the end just to see how the translation unfolds. Very impressed here.
Not much else to say. Not a highly recommended game to play but it’s worth the look because of the great translation and relatively nice looking overhead graphics.
