The Secret of Monkey Island CD VIDEO FIX

Hack of The Secret of Monkey Island

Description:

This is a very accurate port of the VGA version, but the developers strangely used the “Shadow Mode” as default that make all the screen really DARK.

Breathes new life into an otherwise bleak port

Reviewed By: ducknukam on 29 Jan 2022

First of all, I haven’t done a thorough gameplay using this patch, but from the few scenes/levels that I have tested so far this patch is an absolute improvement over the original color palette with its dark tonality, something which always puzzled me as to why it was implemented in this way.

On a side note, I can’t say if there are bugs associated with the patch, I can’t seem to notice any so far anyway. The only thing different that I noticed immediately, which seems of no consequence whatsoever, is that the “loading” wristwatch icon is missing the animation just after the game boots up, it gets straightened back a few seconds later though.

So far so good. Kudos to the author for improving this gem after all these years.
