Super Mario Bros: Fast Foes

Hack of Super Mario Bros.

Description:

This hack is identical to the original game, but the enemies are slightly faster than normal. This includes the powerups and moving platforms, too. It’s interesting how this physics tweak causes the ‘feel’ of certain levels to change - 2-2 and 6-2, for instance, seem much more hectic and hostile.

(This is inspired by the Fast Foe Comet.)

I like it, but...

I do like this ROMHack - often times variations of the core gameplay can be interesting and here it forces me to take more cautious steps and jumps. I like this new approach.

The only problems are, due to the new physics or speed, there are certain enemies that go through the floor. Same goes for some vital Power-ups, and the Buzzy Beetles, when they recover from when you stomped on them, they go back to their original speed - a small detail.

But, it’s still somewhat playable in its current state.
