Valentines Day Tetris

Hack of Tetris

Description:

This is a Valentine’s Day special edition of NES Tetris. Almost every screen in the game has had graphics altered for Valentine’s Day.

The author is more than happy with how this turned out, especially the colors. The only small issue is how the Tetris piece graphics in the “Statistics” window of the main gameplay screen have to be slightly “bunched up”. There is a bit more on why that is in the ReadMe.

A cute NES Tetris graphics-hack.

Valentine’s Day Tetris is, as its title suggests, a lovey-dovey-themed graphical hack of Tetris (specifically, the NES version) where all of the pieces are changed from blocks into cute little hearts.

A little bit of visual information is lost because blocks that originally had different colours and shading are all identical here - however, it’s not a big deal, and it doesn’t affect gameplay much, if at all. Nonetheless, it would have been nice (and even cuter) if differently-coloured groups of hearts could have been used, reflecting the scheme that was used for the original blocks, for ease of identification in the heat of the moment.

That said, the hack looks completely professional, and the mentioned issue of the blocks in the Statistics window being somewhat bunched-up barely even shows.

If you like holiday-themed graphical hacks, then Valentine’s Day Tetris is another title that you’ll want to add to your library.

I tested this game in the versions of RetroPie for both the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B and the Raspberry Pi Zero W, and it worked as it should with both.
