Rockman 7 EP is a complete romhack of Rockman 7 (NOT Mega Man 7). Expect all new (and some familiar) level designs, mid-boss battles, auto-scrolling sections, shop items, enemy and Robot Master attack patterns, weapon behaviors, and a lot more. It also enables in-game switching of weapons and adaptor.
Apply patch to Rockman 7 (Japanese version) with No Header, NOT Mega Man 7 (USA version).

Mega Man 7 EP is a decent romhack.
I really liked some of the changes to the game, and I think a lot of the robot master stages are quite fun to play.
I loved the callback to the Hot Dogs from MM2 as minibosses, or the creative uses of mechanics throughout the stages. Boss fights are pretty fun, but weaknesses are not the same as the original. I missed things like where hitting Spring Man with the Electric Spark would make him immune and do a special move on you !
I really liked the Castlevania type feel of Shade Man’s stages, such as shooting down the torches for weapon energy. Some crap weapons from MM7 were greatly improved like Cloud Man’s weapon, but things like Freeze Man’s weapon drain way too fast. Junk shield is not as good, either. Turbo Man’s weapon is broken, making you immune to essentially all non-projectile damage, which is a must in some stages.
I don’t like how some set pieces act differently, despite having the same sprite. There is also an extremely heavy reliance on vehicle type stage areas that aren’t what the Blue Bomber was designed for. Enemies can get really spammy as well, and the sheer number of E Tanks you get make it more of a run through everything while healing up to full most of the time.
The Wily stages are horrendous. Spamming vehicle stages, endless hordes of enemies, crappy stage trials are mostly what you’ll find here. Wily Capsule is utter garbage with poor depth perception, a very difficult to understand 2nd phase and how he can overflow you with weapon energy just to instant-kill you. No wonder why Mega Man attempted to shoot Wily.
In my opinion, play the Robot Master stages, they can be quite fun. But when you get to the Wily stages, expect boring, tedious gameplay with ridiculous time type trials and environmental gimmicks that have no place in a Mega Man game.
