Daikaijuu Monogatari is a role playing game for the Super Nintendo.
In a mystical world far away, a legendary race of beings called Shell Monsters dwell. These are not those sorts of monsters that threaten other life forms, though. Just the opposite. Instead, these special “people” live extremely long lives and enjoy mysterious powers that certain heroes – sometimes reluctantly – use against tyrants that threaten the peaceful existence of their World of Shelldorado!
Such a threat has arisen recently – a fiend known as “Fat Badger – and Elder Hermit Crab of Shell Village is about to invoke an ancient chant that elders must memorize, to summon a human hero from another world that is quite distant from Shelldorado. Soon, the perplexed would-be hero, whether he wants to or not, will embark on an ocean voyage in the flimsy Puka shell craft, hoping to locate his madcap shell hero companions who somehow seem to be drifting far afield from their assigned duties!

User Review Information
It does not respect the original source and introduces its own political ideology.Reviewed By: ius_pizza on 22 Feb 2021
I sincerely believe that the moderators of this website should remove any hack that, ignoring the original text, introduces messages about a political ideology, whether in a serious or humorous tone. I can understand some free adaptation when in the original there is a joke that a western player would not understand if it is not adapted to his own culture, but always according to the personality of the NPC who speaks or the context of the work.
This translation goes beyond an adaptation of jokes to Western culture, it directly introduces political proclamations totally absent in the original and without any relation to the personality of the characters.
The game is fine, it’s fine, it doesn’t excel in any technical aspect, but it doesn’t have major flaws either, but the music is forgettable. The development of the story and characters and the combat is that of a classic RPG of this time following the style of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. The rate of encounters is high even for its time and it differs in its continuous cheerful tone despite bad things happening in the main plot, it would be a highly recommended RPG to start an 8-14 year old boy in the genre if someone took a more politically neutral translation and not as if the translator were Richard Nixon or Margaret Thatcher.
Jesus Christ, even in retro video games you have to put up with their political ideas.
