Super Mario All-Stars Censored

Hack of Super Mario All-Stars

Description:

This patch modifies the ending of Super Mario Bros. 2 to remove whatever appeared to be as if Wart’s eyes were cut and bleeding from underneath (being more targeted to have been more suitable towards younger audiences).

This patch was made as a response to Mario fans (anywhere on the internet) who’ve complained that the redness underneath Wart’s eyes was blood (to avoid any debatable controversy).

The entire game itself remains unaffected.

Normally, I’m against censorship of any kind. I don’t really see this as “censorship” so much as removing an unnecessarily gory image from a Mario game which wasn’t even originally there. Whether Nintendo meant for it to be blood or not, it looks exactly like Wart’s bleeding out from the eyes, which ALWAYS struck me as an unnecessary and excessive addition. (You don’t MURDER Wart – you just put him into a food coma.) This is more faithful to the NES game and I support it.
