Description:
When starting a game on Metroid 2, Samus’ arm cannon is just there, on her arm, minding its own business. …Until she switches to missiles. Once she switches back, the peculiar pattern of pixels on display is not the same gun she started with. It’s a very minor cosmetic issue, but it’s just as easy to get these things right, you know.
This patch serves up a simple, singular sprite swap to give some semblance of satisfaction in seeing Samus’ suit stay the same.

Reviewed By: Chicken Knife on 22 Sep 2020I was specifically asking for this bugfix at various points in the past, and I am delighted to discover that this patch has been made and published. It’s one of those stupid little issues that would get under my skin so badly, I had an impossible time enjoying the game.
After downloading this, I immediately set out to combine it with the wonderful EJRTQ color hack. As an FYI, the rom won’t work if the EJRTQ patch is applied first, but if the cannon fix patch is applied before EJRTQ, the result works fine.
Once I had this running, I had to fix a couple badly drawn face pixels in one of Samus’s running frames and voila! The perfect version of the original game.
