Super Nintendo

Game Description:

Cybernator is an action-platformer/run and gun style game very similar to Front Mission: Gun Hazard where you run/fly around in a mech suit but without any of the RPG elements of said game.

Translation Description:

This is an English translation of Assault Suits Valken for the Super Nintendo.

And here it is, the unedited, uncensored Japanese version of Cybernator! There are still some random text display issues, and you can’t change Jake’s name, but other than that it’s fully playable!

Better than the official localization

Reviewed By: Supergamerguy on 01 Aug 2020

This is an amazing hidden gem for the SNES that was impeded by story elements in its official localization in the 90’s: Cybernator. Though some pauses in gameplay are still present as in the original game, this hack aims to relocalize the missing elements from the Japanese version, and it accomplishes that goal with flying mechs—I mean colors.

The text has been faithfully translated from its original form and now makes the game feel more tense with light cursing and shouts of exclamation, which are extenuated by the return of the beautiful character portraits. I don’t know why they aren’t present in the official localization, but the returning facial expressions really make the player feel for the characters and their plight.

Overall, a very solid effort by the hacking team. This is the best way to play this game in modern day. Another reviewer mentioned game breaking bugs, but I didn’t encounter a single one in my playthrough; I was able to beat the entire game twice with no issue (both bad ending and good ending). Don’t let the threat of bugs stop you from playing this amazing upgrade to an astoundingly fun combat game.
