It should be noted that the whole game cannot be played just with buttons using this patch. Only the rhythm games themselves can be controlled with buttons; menus or clicking the screen to progress messages or tutorials still need to be controlled with the touch screen.

Additionally, the buttons only emulate the “tap” and “flick” motions, so games like Love Lizards where you need to hold down the touch screen and move up and down aren’t playable with buttons. However, some feel that “flicking” is less responsive than pushing a button, so the patch works for this purpose. The only thing to keep in mind that you’ll still need to use the touch screen sometimes.

The only minor improvements I can think of that could be added would be for the “tap” function to work outside of games (like when you progress tutorial messages or results screens), and letting the Select button skip tutorials as in the other Rhythm Haven games. I imagine menu navigation and getting the “move stylus up and down” games wouldn’t be feasible to make compatible with buttons without significantly reprogramming the game, so those are fine as is.
