The Minish Cap - Gender Neutral

Hack of The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

Description:

Released in North America in 2005 for the Game Boy Advance, The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap was the twelfth entry in the Zelda series. Although the game allows the player to input their own name for Link and become the hero in an immersive experience, all of the characters in the game still refer to the player as male. This patch replaces the male pronouns referring to Link (the player) with gender-neutral pronouns (for example: “kid”” instead of “boy”).

INSTRUCTIONS: Use xdelta3 to apply vcdiff to (U) GBA file.

Simple But Great

Reviewed By: Ursula_JD on 08 Mar 2020

Link was always supposed to be gender neutral, and the fact that almost all TLOZ games allow you to name Link but continue forcing masculine pronouns always annoyed me. I am sure Link’s origins were gender neutral so anyone could play and feel represented (an early magazine artwork depicted Link as a girl), so I never got why Link was forced to be treated as a boy in the games.

Thank you for making this patch!
