King Colossus is a typical Action/RPG entry for the Megadrive that, for reasons I am not sure of, was not released in the states. There is really nothing offensive about the material and it’s quite an easy game to play. As far as action/RPGs go you could compare this to games such as Crystalis, Lagoon, etc. The major difference is that it’s more of a dungeon crawler in the fact that the only areas you explore are dungeons, caves, castles, etc. You find all weapons, armor, accessories and items in the dungeons. It keeps the game action packed and never boring.

The translation is perfectly done and you shouldn’t have any issues with the patch. Having said that, since there is no towns to explore, dialog is kept to a minimum and usually only used to progress the story. Nevertheless, the dialog is well written and mature enough to keep the storyline alive throughout the whole game.

King Colossus is definitely a fun game with a lot to explore. Veteran RPGers will find the game somewhat short (I beat it in about 10 to 12 hours) but it will force you to play through a second time since it has two very different endings.

Definitely check this one out.
