Description:
Nova the Squirrel is an open source NES platformer game that features Kirby-style ability copying as well as puzzle platforming. It features 33 levels (plus several bonus levels at the end), seven bosses, and a collectible in every level the player can try to get for 100% completion. It has a modern design, featuring no time limits or lives, as well as an abundance of checkpoints and in-game help.

Really, really good
Reviewed By: capnkatie on 02 Sep 2019This is genuinely impressive, I wasn’t expecting something of this calibre. The game is excellently designed, and it’s evident that an obscene amount of effort was put into making this as good as possible. My only two complaints are that the controls are a tad bit fast and slippy and that the graphics are VERY grid-aligned, so the background tiles look a bit ameteurish. that doesn’t mean that the graphics are bad, everything is well defined and drawn, and the sublime animation on Nova’s tail is testament to that.
On top of this great game experience (that I will admit, I haven’t fully played) is the genuinely immense amount of extra content, including a dr mario clone with more settings and modes than I thought imaginable.
Overall, this is very good, so play it.

Kinda fun, but the graphics are bogus and the acceleration makes no sense. | Marcos Moutta | 06 Oct 2019 | 1405 | No |
