Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks D-Pad Controls

Hack of The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks

This patch lets you play Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks with mostly non-touch based controls. The new control bindings are

Control Bindings:

  • D-Pad=Run
  • Y+Dpad=Walk
  • B=Wide slash
  • B+Dpad=Long slash
  • Y+B=Spin Attack
  • A=Interact
  • A+Dpad=Roll

The hack should work in a story-safe way so it should be possible to play through the game without being able to access attacks you shouldn’t be able to use.

Huge convenience, poor choice of source ROM

Reviewed By: chibikami on 28 Jul 2019

This patch does what it says and does it well

Unfortunately, it also espouses one of the largest flaws with the xdelta format: forced CRC checking (which can be disabled by the patch maker but not the end user) Not normally a problem if the patch was made with a good dump of the ROM, but as you can read on the page it was made using a specific bad dump

What’s the problem with using a bad dump? Aside from that the mere phrase “bad dump” should alarm you by default, let’s pretend for a moment that you ripped your own copy with your own equipment–you will never get the same CRC whether you do a good or bad dump Which leaves us with hunting it down on the net, a growing impossibility as romsites are more interested in hosting good dumps unless they’re geared toward hosting goodsets

So I kind of have to give it a strike due to inability to apply the patch to a good dump of the ROM
