No Sword Beam

Hack of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Description:

Disable the sword beam. Normally, once you have the master sword and full health you can shoot a beam from the sword. This hack disables this beam.

Why disable this feature? A few possible reasons: the damage is low, it makes a high-pitched sound, and even when in sword range the enemy often takes the low beam damage instead.

Included are patches for both the English and Japanese versions of the game.

The patch is very simple - a single line of code is changed to set the required number of health to be above full health. It is likely compatible with many other hacks and is confirmed to work with the ALTTP randomizer (apply the Japanese version patch to the randomized file)

Why not just do Zelda 1 Sword Beam???

Reviewed By: WeebeeGeebee on 25 May 2019

This hack is more like a downgrade than an upgrade. Honestly why not take a page out of the Pretty Redux hack and bring in the Beam from Zelda 1 or Minish Cap? Make it a little more powerful and a straight beam rather than a bunch of swirling sparkles that fly across the screen?
