Hack of Blaster Master

This hack for Blaster Master (NES) makes many of the graphics more similar to Blaster Master Zero (3DS, Switch), barring things that would be impossible on the NES. While many details are identical to those in Zero, palette, resolution, tile, and sprite limitations limit the similarity. Other graphical and map changes have been made to take advantage of wasted space, in the spirit of Blaster Master Zero. Some dungeons have been expanded and de-simplified, as well as some quality of life fixes in other maps.

Maybe not Quite Finished?

This is almost entirely a graphics hack of the original Blaster Master, and what’s changed is excellent; I can’t praise the new graphics enough! That said, it’s very inconsistent what and how much has been changed. Area 2 received a massive overhaul, whereas Area 4 has… brighter water, I think. Some enemy sprites have been changed, while others haven’t. Even more baffling is that there are very slight layout changes to the very beginning of Area 3, but nothing else in the entire game, as far as I saw.

Again, I did enjoy the hack, and I do still have it in my library, but I feel like it needs a version 2.0 with more new graphics, even if the layout is exactly the same. Mister Xiado is an excellent graphic artist; keep up the great work!
