I bought this game back when it was released and I was living in Japan, but the focus seemed to be on the story, and I couldn’t appreciate it. Fast forward to this hack, which I just discovered a couple of weeks ago.

As far as translations go, it’s excellent. I am 3 hours in, and haven’t found a typo or grammatical error yet. There is an encyclopedia that was left untranslated, but everything else, including the quest log, is in full English.

The gameplay is a cross between Xenoblade Chronicles and Secret of Mana, which is to say that it is satisfying. You have a basic attack, but can level up skills based on weapon types. These skills can be assigned to the other 3 face buttons. The L button will toggle from attacks to healing items, of which you can also set 4. The story is the main focus though, and I am looking forward to digging in and completing it.
