Super Castlevania IV Uncensored

Hack of Super Castlevania IV

Description:

Thanks to RedGuy’s work on his Super Castlevania IV Editor, SC4 now has most of its assets in an uncompressed format, making it possible to do all sort of hacking feats on both SCIV and Akumajou Dracula.

This hack focuses on restoring most of the censored content from the USA release of Super Castlevania IV:

  • All of the crosses in both backgrounds, coffins, gravestones, etc have been restored.
  • The green goop has been ditched in favor of the blood in level 8-1-1 and 8-1-2.
  • The Stained Glass from the Continue screen has been restored to its Japanese counterpart sprites.
  • The Font has been modified to match that of the Japanese release as well.
  • The Stage Select screen has been completely reworked and translated.

Things to do:

  • Implement Blood Drop from the Japanese Title Screen

Note: A similar patch by DarkSamus993 will be released as an upcoming update for the Japanese version of the game. The “Things to do” will most likely be added to the Japanese ROM hack instead of the US ROM. Also, he might update the English patch to add the Blood drop to the English version of the ROM.

Keep an eye for the update!

10 Years of Praying Finally Answered

Reviewed By: Sephirous on 09 Jul 2016

Since the time it was learned that the American Region was basically screwed over and pretty much babied when it came to the release of Castlevania IV by removing the religious references and even to the point of changing the blood found in the later stages to a green color. Gamers such as myself began praying that one day we might experience the Japanese Version of this game but over here translated and in the American Region. Thanks to the creators of this patch, Now we can experience just that but with the American Release as well. This patch in my opinion is one of the greatest creations ever conceived. The Religious references are all restored, We now have crosses in the graveyard intro scene as well as coffins that no longer look like what appeared to be large octagonal boxes with mouths. In the dungeon stages we can now experience the grim environment of seeing the unappealing green blood now in it’s true red form, dripping off the hellish spikes and torture devices giving us the reminder that some poor soul had their life slowly drained out of them as the sharp metal spikes cut through their blood filled veins. Over all the patch now grants us the experience long lost that gamers such as my self have been waiting for since the first release of this back in 1991.
