Description:
This is a hack which adds rings to the third act of levels in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for Sega Master System. This makes bosses somewhat easier as the player can take a few hits before dying. The hack also has the following changes:
- 3-digit ring counter. Finally when collecting over 100 rings the counter won’t reset to zero.
- 2-digit life counter. The lives never maxed at 9 lives but only 9 would be shown. This hack fixes that and adds a second digit to show lives going over 9.
- 10-ring monitors now give an extra life if 90-99 rings is on the counter.
- Arrow monitor. Works the same as in Sonic the Hedgehog for 8-bit systems. If the player dies after breaking one of these they will restart at the spot of the last Arrow Monitor broken when they die.

Very useful hack
Reviewed By: MathUser2929 on 09 Jun 2016Adding rings to the boss stages makes this a much more approachable version of Sonic 2 SMS. After you play this you won’t want to go back to Sonic 2 GG. No reason the boss fights had to be so punishing. Recommended.
