Due to the fact that CajeASM hasn't been updated by me for many years, still has some odd bugs regarding instruction counter and due to the fact that (nowadays) better alternatives exist now, I've decided to delete this tool from this website. An alternative assembler I can recommend is bass, currently maintained by ARM9. To be found here: https://github.com/ARM9/bass

Zelda II: Remove big flasheffect

Hack of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

Description:

Tested with the “Zelda II - The Adventure of Link (U)”

What does it do?

  • Simple hack that removes the flash effect when

Link dies

  • when learning a spell from the wizard
  • and defeating a boss.

Instead, mentioned screen will use a single color (see screenshots).

Why use this hack?

It’s not as epilepsy-inducing anymore and better for the eyes :)

Works

It’s a great hack for those with epilepsy or those that think the flash effect is just unpleasant.

However this is the exact same thing Nintendo did with the GBA, GC and Virtual Console re-releases. Though I guess if you truly wanted to play the original NES release with that fix, this is your only option and for that, it works.
