Original Tetris A-Type Music

Hack of Tetris DX

This simple patch changes the default A-Type music to the Korobeiniki-based A-Type song from the first Game Boy Tetris.

The song has actually been in the ROM all along, just unused. No idea why they didn’t include this as an option in the first place! This patch is based on the Game Genie codes found on The Cutting Room Floor.

Tested on both emulator (BGB, VBA-M) and real hardware. Works like a charm.

Known Bugs:

  • The preview track that plays on the main menu when selecting the song is incorrect. This is likely due to the previously-unused song not having a preview version for the menu. If someone with the required hacking expertise wants to step up and help, it would be appreciated. It is ultimately a very minor flaw, though.

Finally, a Reason for Me to Play Tetris DX!

Reviewed By: Bahamut ZERO on 29 Jan 2015

This hack does exactly what it says it does, and it makes this game a million times more playable to me.

I grew up with the original game boy version, and when I tried DX, the changed music just killed the whole experience for me. I mean, who the hell wants a remake of Tetris without the original, catchy-as-balls Tetris music we all know and love?

But now with this hack, I can finally have some fun with this recolored classic. The only way it could get any better is if the original Type-B and Type-C tracks were also unused and hidden in the ROM somewhere.

Why are you even looking at this!? You could’ve already patched your game and joined in on the fun! Go, go, go!
