Tetris Attack

Super Nintendo

Game Description:

Tetris Attack is a puzzle game for the Super Nintendo.

Translation Description:

Patch contains IPS patch for both Header & non Header versions of the game. This patch translates all textual images into English as well as the Dialogue (using custom Variable Font Width routines). The fontset used in this game was ripped from Tetris Attack as it was most suitable to use.

The only thing that is not translated is the character voices.

If you’ve played Tetris Attack you should already be pretty familiar with this one. I played TA before I knew about Panel De Pon but I much prefer this version. I mean, do we really need another Mario-themed game? Plus this one’s so cute it hurts. I don’t recall any gameplay diffs, it just has totally different graphics. Some of the music is different as well but I don’t recall how much of it. It’s been a while since I played the domestic version because I now play this version exclusively.

This game’s formula is a nice change of pace if you’re used to the standard Tetris type. Rather than pieces coming from the top that you can shift and rotate, all of the blocks move up as rows are added to the bottom. This process speeds up as you progress. You make matches by swapping two blocks horizontally.

The translation is top notch. Everything looks nothing less than professional. The voices aren’t translated but that’s a good thing. There’s not much else to say here. It’s really cute and if you’d prefer the Panel De Pon look to that of the Mushroom Kingdom then this is your game.
