Mega Man X MSU-1 Audio

Hack of Mega Man X

Description:

This patch is intended to replace all the music from the 1993 SNES game, Mega Man X, with full CD-quality streaming audio using the MSU-1 audio specification created by byuu.

This patch requires the MSU-1 audio ‘chip’ to function, and as such will only function properly with the higan and BSNES emulators, as well as the SD2SNES flash cart.

However, the .spc fallback routine means that if the MSU-1 chip is NOT detected (such as in an emulator that does not support it, like ZSNES or snes9x), the standard audio will play, leaving the game to play as if un-patched. Non-destructive patching, FTW.

A link to a pre-assembled Audio Pack can be found in the Readme.

Mega Man X with CD quality music

Reviewed By: Q on 29 Dec 2014

Mega Man X wasn’t metal enough already, so some folks added CD quality music. I can confirm that this feature works on a real SNES with an SD2SNES flash cart. It should also work in the bsnes/higan emulator. If you’re a fan of Mega Man X, try this out for an improved experience.
