Description:
This patch does four things and four things only:
- While walking in towns, dungeons, etc., the player can now press the Y button to run. In the Field, the player can use Y to toggle running. Y will also toggle slow flying in the airships for accurate landing (helpful when landing at Toroia, specifically)
- The “Stereo/Mono” option in the Custom menu has been changed to “Mode Active/Wait.” This allows the player to switch from Wait mode (monsters will not attack you while you choose an item or spell) to Active mode (monsters’ turns continue while you make these decisions).
- During battle, the player can now press X to defer to the next ready character
- The toggle between viewing Max HP and the ATB percentage is now controlled in battle by pressing Select
The rest of the game has been left entirely untouched, to allow for easy patching into virtually any working hack (barring a large amount of custom code already having been implemented). The idea was to implement some user options into FFIV that were not introduced in the franchise until later games.
This bundle now also contains an extra patch, “Change to Cache.” This allows access to The Big Chocobo’s extra inventory from the menu screen. Please read the Readme for more information.
- **Version 3.1 corrects a bug from version 3.0 that broke dashing and slow flying functionality on the Moon and Underworld maps**

Just what FFIV needed!
Reviewed By: FlamePurge on 26 Dec 2014This modernizes Final Fantasy IV in small but necessary ways. It makes battles run so much more smoothly. I personally love to apply buffs before actually fighting a foe, and so this lets me skip to a white magic user’s turn without making my fighters and black magic users defend. Being able to choose between Active and Wait modes is also a nice addition!
Furthermore, dashing and vehicle slow mode lets you take more precise control over exploration, and get through small side trips more quickly.
Recommended especially for those of you making difficulty mods, as turn deference and ATB gauges would help your mod’s players strategize better.
