Description:
Level Zero is a concept hack that was initially designed to circumvent the quirky nature of magic defense and other stats by removing the level-up entirely. After changing character and enemy stats, I mainly tried to learn to do more things with the ROM and improve the game’s balance by tweaking more and more components of the game, even adjusting/adding a few minor events.
While this is not explicitly a hardtype hack, it is probably is a bit on the difficult side, so if you’d like to play Chrono Trigger with a bit of an edge, Level Zero is worth a go.
This patch earlier was known as “Frozen in Time” but has changed substantially since then.

Amazing concept, unfortunately after awhile the game becomes impossible
Reviewed By: Bregalad on 26 Sep 2014The concept behind this hack is great, it is to make a RPG without using levels at all. The stats are fixed and can’t be improved. Force, magic, etc… tabs are also disabled (they are still here, but you can’t use them).
The only improvement possible is getting better equipment, and getting new Techs.
This idea is very great and amazing. I absolutely hate level grinding, so I wish more RPGs would be without levels.
The bosses are much harder than in the original game. Namely, they do A LOT of damage, sometimes almost killing your allies in one hit. The Tank Dragon and Masamune are epically difficult. However, it’s great because it’s a good challenge, since I played this game a good dozen of times, finding strategies to beat boss despite their increased strenght was fun.
