Hack of Super Metroid

Here is a Half-Hack of Super Metroid which has you play the normal maps in a different direction with some alterations to the rooms of the whole world. The total percentage is 111% and the items are super-secret. Nice for those who want to play the game with a twist. It is also more challenging that your normal Super Metroid playthough.

Spikes, spikes, and more spikes

Reviewed By: Vismund Cygnus on 07 Dec 2013

First off, I am going to say that this hack is not good in any way. There is nothing in the way of innovation in Inverted. The hack follows the same layout as the original Super Metroid, offering little to no changes in the design of rooms themselves. The few rooms that have had changes made to them are fairly minuscule, and even those are poorly done, with random pieces of graphics that simply do not fit in placed randomly around the same rooms that are in Super Metroid.

What this hack does add, however, is spikes. Lots and lots of spikes. And this is not good game design. Jumping off a cliff and landing on a spike (which deals a ludicrous amount of damage, enough to almost instakill you early in the game) is not “difficult”, it’s infuriatingly bad. So to recap, this hack makes virtually no changes to the game itself, and the changes that are made are bad. As such, I cannot recommend this hack to anyone.
