Super Metroid - Darkholme Hospital

Hack of Super Metroid

Description:

Three years after the explosion of Zebes, Samus came back on Earth to investigate on strange events disturbing the Darkholme Hospital, a military medical complex built 50 years ago.

Darkholme Hospital 2.0 does small edits to the main hack, but includes 6 brand new “ketpatches” that change the game further. All of the keypatches are locked in seperate folders, and you have to play the hack and find the secret messages to find the codes. With them, you can change how the game is played by making enemies harder, the world darker, only allowing a short time, and some others.

Do not forget to consult the readme included for more information!

A Nice Little Diversion

Reviewed By: Chris Miller on 10 Oct 2013

I definitely applaud the author on the concept behind the hack, and especially the way it was carried out. If Nintendo wanted to put a creepy abandoned hospital in one of the Metroid games, they couldn’t have done any better. It wasn’t too big, nor too small.

If there was one con to the whole thing, it is that the player takes a ton of damage in the escape, which is instant death if you don’t get all the energy tanks. Aside from that, I can’t find any faults worth mentioning.

The graphics are good and distinctive, without removing the player too far from the original style. It does feel like you’re going through an abandoned hospital, albeit a weird one that requires rolling into a ball and bombing stuff, lol.

Level 6 definitely creeped me the heck out. Good work! :D
