6-Letter Name Patch

Hack of Chrono Trigger

Description:

Apply to an UNHEADERED ROM!

This patch lets you name characters with up to six letters (for instance, Chrono instead of Crono). It modifies code regarding a null space present after names and also changes the game’s same-name detection rules to check the new sixth letter when identifying duplicates. So far there don’t seem to be any bugs or adverse effects, but if you come across anything please let us know! Thanks to Vehek, Mauron, JLukas, and justin3009.

Great, but has a few minor problems.

Being someone who has a long name, this patch is great for me. Having a six letter name is something I always enjoyed with the DS version, but it isn’t quite the same as the original SNES. Thanks so much for making this patch!

However, there is one thing that bugs me. On the menu screen, I see you squished the “L” and “v” of “Level” together so it and the name wouldn’t run together. Honestly, that looks bad. You should just put an “L”. A lot of games just have an “L” (Pokemon for instance, if memory serves).
