Gorgeous, calls back to Tetris history, and reduces flash/strobe!
Reviewed By: smbhax on 02 Jun 2023This ROMhack makes it possible for me to play NES Tetris again–a game I played back in the day as a kid!–without risking a migraine.
In NES Tetris, when a Tetris is made, a gray color in the background strobes yellow. But very little of that gray color is left in the modified background of this ROMhack, so there’s hardly any flashing left to irritate the eyes.
The onion dome is reminiscent of the background of the Famicom version of Tetris, which came out a year before the NES one, and the little bricks lining the playfield are like the playfield borders in the version of Tetris on Game Boy, which came out about four months before the NES one.
It also just looks really nice and soothing.
So, callbacks, good looking, AND easy on my old eyeballs! Great work here.
