Description:
Enhansa Edition is a mod of Chrono Trigger that aims to improve the battle system by giving the player more choices about how to grow and gear your character. The inspiration for the mod was, “What if Hypno Wave was actually useful?” and from there it spiraled out of control to rewriting enemy AI, redesigning items and equipment, redesigning Techs, and more. There is a much greater emphasis on status effects in battle, with full functionality restored to unused statuses and many new ways to apply them.
This is not a “difficulty hack”. That is to say, the game has not been made frustratingly difficult on purpose. The mod is certainly more difficult than vanilla Chrono Trigger; it was a game originally designed for children, after all. In redesigning the battle mechanics, the interest is in increasing the number of options that the player has to consider. If you’re being challenged by a fight, step back and carefully evaluate your options.
Improving on Chrono Trigger is a daunting task. The original game gets so many things right. A goal was to keep the quick pace of combat from the original while still presenting challenges for the player to overcome. Thank you for playing and enjoy!

No, it's not bad. It's just not Seiken Denstsu 3, or Final Fantasy V.

The mod description is right: OG Trigger quickly becomes a ‘nuke the enemy into oblivion before it can move’ game (Crono/Ayla + Falcon Hit + Frog Heal) unless enemies know how to deal with it.
Cons:
I’m trying to spam single techs and the reward is six enemies with counters. I can deal with it, but it feels like almost every enemy casts Lock. It gets annoying.
Good, but not entirely successful:
Toma offers stat upgrades, which…. I’m not sure how useful they are, to tell the truth. The biggest nerf is to melee. Too many beefy enemies and it can be a slugfest. My party had two tanks who got wiped early due to the mechanics. There are more melee-resistant bosses, so spell buffs are essential.
inuksuk apparently has a fondness for Marle. They wanted to take the worst character and see if she could be salvaged. An improved crossbow and MT Cure 2 are actually really good. But it just yielded an inferior copy of Frog/Robo. General “Kimahri sucks again” vibes here.
