Description:
Impressively, Phantasy Star III features adaptive music during battle: a track for inputting the first commands of the fight, tracks if the player is doing well or poorly, and a track if the battle is balanced on both sides. However, the command input track has been widely criticized, and the other three tracks interrupt one another once their conditions for playing have been met.
This project disables the tracks for first commands, doing well, and doing poorly, and forces the balanced battle theme to play for the entirety of each fight aside from the final boss.
Due to the highly-shifted data of the Bugfix and retranslation projects, addendum patches for them have been included. Apply the other patches first, then Battle Music Hack.
Those who wish to combine one of this project’s patches with other patches will need a few extra steps.
1. Apply all of the desired patches to the ROM.
2. Open the ROM in Fix CheckSum.
3. Click the “Fix CheckSum” button. The ROM will be saved automatically.
