Shadowgate was another one of the Macventure games ported to the NES. It takes a more medieval style in a castle, as opposed to Uninvited, which was a haunted house exploration.
Like the other Macventures, you can examine and interact with the environment, pick up items, use them, and only in Shadowgate and Uninvited (not Deja Vu), you can learn and use spells, among other things.
The objective is to defeat the evil wizard, and you have to traverse the Shadowgate, picking up useful items, avoiding traps, (dying a million times), using keys to unlock doors, dealing with dangerous monsters, all of which are some of the many kinds of puzzles in this game, along with the other Macventure games, depending on the style of which.
Solving the puzzles is a lot of fun, and like I said with Uninvited, this is a great game, and though it’s very different from what you probably typically play, I would highly recommend giving this a try!
