Competent port overall. Nearly all the characters from the arcade game are present in addition to Rain and Noob Saibot being playable along with the bosses. There are other additions including Nightwolf’s red shadow shoulder move and brutalities. The Genesis version features a exclusive port of the pong minigame which is called MK4. A negative omission from this port is that Animalities and Mercy finishing moves. Also some stages and voice clips are missing. There are more stages in this port than the SNES port though. The graphics are good and look quite close to the SNES version despite lacking in colors. The music is OK for the Genesis. Some finishing moves are also altered. Overall a good port despite some things being removed probably due to the cartridge size.

There exists a hack called Ultimate Mortal Kombat Trilogy which actually restores some features in addition to adding new things so play that for a more complete port.
