Rockman 2 Neta (PC) - changing the on-screen location of text

This is Rockman 2 Neta, a Japanese freeware game which is based on Mega Man 2 for the NES (it's not a ROM hack, but it's really damn similar to the original). The whole game is just you against all 8 bosses at once. When you get a game over, you get some sort of extra help added to the config menu, like reducing the game speed or starting with energy tanks. The screen that gives you this is a replica of the "You got a special weapon" screen from the original (handled in this game by \Data\WeaponGet.txt). Being that I'm trying to get this into English, I want this to look like the NES version, so the text has to be moved into the right location.

I've been able to handle the translation so far, but I need to move some of the text strings over to be able to fit the English replacement text. This is where I'm having trouble. I've been messing around with it, but trial-and-error takes a very long time, consider there's no quick and easy way to get the text to appear (you have to lose all your lives once for each screen, and there are seven screens).

Comparison pics below. These are from the NES games. See how the text is shifted over a bit in the English version? That's what I want.

I think this game was made with Game Maker.  All the image and sound files, and even most of the code, is in plain, uncompressed files in one of the game's folders.  I don't really have any coding experience, but I was able to move text in a different file.  For some reason, though, this text behaves differently.

Good to see a translation of a non rom game. Sure this isn't translation hacking.net but I think it fits the spirit! Also I love seeing good fangames being done! Be it translation or making.

Maybe you could use a RAM editor to edit your lives or the screen you are on to make yourself die faster? Or open the EXE in a debugger and make it jump straight to those screens?

I think this game was made with Game Maker.

The executable is too small for it to be a GM game. Furthermore, none of the GM functions or variables appear in the game's RAM when you run it. Finally, PEiD says it was made with Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0.

Well, if this PEiD thing says it's made with C++, I really can't argue :)

I was able to determine that the byte at location 0x16614 in the executable stores how much health you get when you start the level. You can change this to a lower value if you want to die more quickly (e.g. make it 2 for a one-hit death).

EDIT: Also, you can change how many times you need to die to get each upgrade by changing the PlayerDeadNum comparisons in the System and WeaponGet files.

Wow, you didn't have to go and do that for me.  Thanks.

Hey guys! Was this translation ever completed? I discovered this game while searching for MegamanX, and I loved it. Thing is, I am getting my kid brother into playing these old games and I only have it in Japanese.
Now, I can't read Japanese, and my bro doesn't speak english, but maybe if I could get it running in english I could (with your help) translate it to spanish. I do English to Spanish Translation in real life, so it would be no effort at all, I'd just need some help with the programming side... and in finding the definitive english translation within this site!
