ROM Hack: Super Mario World: Return to Dinosaur Land
« on: April 15, 2006, 08:08:20 pm »

This is an automated message generated by Romhacking.net's RHDNBot.

Update By: RAGB

This is a completely edited version of Super Mario World. Don't expect any new graphics here, this hack is all about the level design. Some of the worlds have themes not present in the original, such as a water world and an ice world. There are over 40 levels, and two secret bonus areas. Definitely something for anyone looking for a new Mario challenge! Enjoy!

Just a note to whoever submitted the hack, next time save screenshots as PNGs. They come out a lot better looking.

Congratulations to the author of this hack. Completed efforts are pretty rare. I've had a Mario buzz for awhile (just wrapped up lost levels; FINALLY got to World 9), so I'll check this out.

Thanks, Zeality! And I'll keep that in mind about the screenshots, p4ch3co.

I just tried out the hack, and I have to say that the level design is awesome. They seem professionally done.

Yeah, I just started playing, one of the better SMW hacks I've played.

I seem to be having problems with this patch, I tried applying it to the (U) version of the game, but all that did was corrupt the rom. Am I doing something wrong?

Snesmaster, this hack is supposed to be compatible with the US version (that's the version I use), so I don't know what could have happened. Did you use Lunar IPS (also the one I used)? Could it be a problem with the ROM?

Anyway, thanks for the compliments, everyone!

Oh I just fixed it, I added a NRST header to the ROM I had and it now works.

Edit: Played some of it and it's really good

Very fun to play. Ive only played to Mushroom Plateau 4, but every level so far has been of great quality. Just goes to show that GFX hacking is NOT a requirement when making a good SMW hack. SO many people have told me otherwise.

Actually, it is the best SMW hack I've ever played!!! You haven't like many others made the game weird and impossible from the beginning!! What'll be your next hack??

'kay I noticed in one of the ghost houses, there's that moving hole in the floor (used only in Chocolate Ghost House in the original).
Except sometimes the hole disappears (especially if I see it, leave and come back), and the floor LOOKS solid, but it's not.
(though this might have been a bug with the original game)

I got that bug too AND later the ghosts disappeared too!!! Anyway I've played thru the game now, I enjoyed every single piece of it. I hope to see more hacks by you, RAGB!!!

Wow! I can't believe people are still talking about this game! Thanks!  :D

Anyway, that bug you noticed in the Ghost House (and a few others) will be fixed in an update to the hack, to be released this week.

Oh, and my next hack will probably be of Super Mario Bros. 3, but if I figure out how to use the level editor for Yoshi's Island, I'll hack that game instead.
