ROM Hacks: Wily Wars SRAM patch
« on: February 26, 2009, 01:19:11 pm »

Update By: Peter Liberty

To quote from Mega Man PC:

Quote

The ROM version of Wily Wars doesn't save properly: you need to rely on savestates… to access the final levels. To go around this, MottZilla has created this patch: it transforms the game's internal saving method to a format more commonly supported by most Sega Genesis emulators. The end result: you can now save the game normally!

I've been playing this over the past few days and must say it's pretty sweet. I doubt emulators will ever add support for the EEPROM this game used for save data.

Hmm, so is there documentation out how this special EEPROM works? At least if the patch creator could make a specific reference, emulator writers would be able to support it in the future if they don't have to do all the research. Other than that, it's really sweet to do such a hack, way to go

EEPROM is emulated in Genesis Plus GX, at least.
