Update By: Maximum Potion

Maximum Potion and KZK are proud to present Metroid99!
It is a minor hack of the original Metroid on the NES. In the original game, even if you have every energy tank, whenever you load your game you start back at 30 energy with empty energy tanks. In Metroid99, you start off at 99 energy and all of your energy tanks are FULL!

QuoteRemember playing Metroid on your NES and putting in your password only to start playing with 6 empty energy tanks and 30 energy? This hack starts you off with your tanks FULL and at 99 energy!!

Is this all the hack does?  Couldn't you do this with a game genie code?

Not all emulators support Game Genie codes, and I don't know much about NES flash carts (copiers?), but they might not, either.

Plus, Game Genie is ass. The only things it's good for are debug menus and cheating at Pokémon.

But I'm still waiting on an answer to my question. Not only does the titlescreen lack any mention of Nintendo, it appears to be "copyrighted" to the hacker.

I think the point of the patch is to change the energy you start up with.  Not to give you all of the energy tanks without earning them.  When you normally start from a saved code, you have all energy tanks empty and only 30 energy... this patch starts you with all your earned energy completely filled.

I'll thank the patch creator for it, I've always wished the game did this, very cool indeed.

Out of curiosity, what *would* your dream hack of Metroid contain?

(I mean, besides the obvious improved game fizzix, hyperbeam addition, dual wave/ice beam functionality, etc.)
