Update By: Sliver X

A full scale hack of Final Fantasy, nothing remains but the core programming routines.
It features all new graphics, music, levels, enemies, text, statistics and more. Think
of it as a "Total Conversion" for the NES.

Up to this point, there were two versions of the game: v1.26 and Easy Type. Both lines
are now merged as of this version, which should be the absolute last release barring any
earthshattering problems (v1.30 has been thoroughly tested, so this should not be an issue,
we hope).

SRAM files from either v1.26 or Easy Type should function properly with v1.30, but save
states may be broken due to the animated water routines.

I reccomend everyone fan of oldschool RPGs (ala Dragon Warrior) to try this hack. What SliverX did to Final Fantasy can only be classified as insane. I played the easytype game version, and was pleasantly surprised  ;) Also, Thaddeus' gfx set the environment really really well, they compliment the game nicely.

Thumbs up to both of you!

Btw, never seen Thadd anymore (on the intarnets). Maybe the famed Real Life Monster (tm) ate him?
S-X, do you know if he's alright?

Insane, no doubt. Sliver X, you are definitely driven  ;) Nice work

A romhacker said that he wanted to publish a disassembly of this game, but did not yet do it.
This would be a help for this project and similar hacks.

A MSX version of FF exist on floppy,
I thought porting to SMS 512 kb rom,
but that would need new sound code
and changes for the 2 button pads.

I don't understand though... Is this hack both Easy Type and Normal together in one?
Who will quote me next?
Disclaimer: If it sounds wrong, I may have been posting while asleep.

Basically, it's a bug fixed version of Easy Type. Normal no longer exists.

Edit: got a question about this. Is knowledge of the first game/hack necessary to understand the plot of this hack?

Im sure this is a good hack with a lot of effort put into it but the FF1 engine is simpy too primitive for me to enjoy.

How is that relevant? Dragoon X Omega is *the* most extensive FF1 hack ever written, thus far. I would suggest playing it before assuming it is at *all* like FF1.

I haven't seen him in about a month, but up until then he was doing fine.

No. Though a lot of things that happened in part 1 are directly connected to 2, most things are explained so you won't be totally confused. If you play 1 after 2 a lot of things will make you go "Ahh", though.
